A successful small business undergoing growth and expansion even in these challenging times! Their operations are based in the inner northern and NW suburbs of Melbourne.
We need a suitably qualified and experienced person to work two days a week, Monday and Tuesday 10am-2pm. Initially this will be on a casual basis with a view to becoming permanent part-time after six months.
Operating primarily from the company’s Fitzroy location (occasional attendance at the Essendon store will be required), you will assist the business owner to develop, implement and monitor company policies and procedures based on relevant legislation and contemporary HR management practices.
Duties and responsibilities
Provide HR support and guidance to store managers and employees including interpreting and advising on employee entitlements and benefits in line with the Enterprise Agreement, Awards, Fair Work Act, and employment agreements.
Support store managers with regard to people-related issues including discipline, KPI, employment tribunals and grievance.
Manage and maintain contracts, personnel files and other employee information.
Assist with accounting and processing of weekly payroll, including data entry and checking payment details before finalising payment.
Facilitate training for managers and employees on HR practices and procedures as required.
Ensure the quality and compliance of HR documentation with appropriate storage.
Support Managers to provide new employees with an onboarding program, including induction and any required training.
Compile business reports as required.
As required by the business owner from time to time, perform internal audits on different department performance and control.

We need an organised problem solver who is action-orientated and able to juggle multiple tasks, who can demonstrate a high level of competence in dealing with all employee relation matters.
You will have the ability to build and maintain relationships and work confidently with people at all levels, allowing you to effectively influence, network, negotiate, counsel and mediate.
Use your excellent verbal and written communication skills, and solid understanding of workplace, health and safety requirements, to make good decisions based on experience, education and understanding of business needs and culture.
Expected qualifications and experience
Minimum of 2 years previous experience in HR generalist role.
Degree in Business Administration with Human Resources major or equivalent. (Preferred)
Have full working rights in Australia.
