A family-owned repair workshop with over 35 years of service to the transport industry. Located in Welshpool, they provide services to a broad range of industries and work on an extensive variety of road transport equipment.

About the role

They require a Workshop Foreman to co-ordinate and supervise their busy Welshpool workshop. You will be responsible for job allocation and workflow whilst ensuring repairs are completed in the appropriate timeframes and to the expected quality standards.

The person we seek

You will have a sound knowledge of heavy diesel mechanics across various ages, makes and models of vehicles and equipment including trailers and dollies; and be willing and be able to share this knowledge with your workshop team.

For this role we will consider experienced Supervisors and ambitious Technicians ready to take the next career step.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Ensure a positive, safe, clean working environment, ensuring all procedures are followed and environmental issues are complied with.

  • Supervision of workshop staff and impart knowledge when required

  • Allocation of jobs to workshop staff

  • Liaison with Service Manager, Service Advisor, Parts Co-ordinator to ensure a continued flow of information from job start to job completion

  • Diagnose faults and test drive vehicles as required.

  • Ensure vehicles are completed and faults corrected to the customers satisfaction.

  • Ensure vehicles are clean and respectable prior to handover.

  • Ensure job cards are completed with a detailed job report by the mechanic and sign off as complete and ready for collection.

Essential attributes, skills and experience

  • Fully Qualified Mechanic in Heavy Duty Road Transport Equipment (over 5 years’ experience)

  • Ability to lead and nurture a team.

  • HR / HC Driving Licence

  • OH & S and Environmental knowledge and understanding.

  • Be able to “think out of the box” to provide positive outcomes.

  • Computer skills, including Outlook, Excel and Word

Desirable attributes, skills and experience

  • Experience in a Supervisory role in the Transport Industry.

  • First Aid Certificate.

  • Training in Computer Diagnostic equipment.

  • Experience in a broad range of road transport equipment.

  • Hydraulic and Electrical knowledge.
