About the opportunity
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Estimator/Quantity Surveyor to join our team and play a key role in cost management, estimating and assist in the delivery of multiple construction waterproofing services projects across Victoria.
About the Role
Based in Port Melbourne, this is a key position responsible for managing project costs, preparing tenders, and providing accurate estimates from concept through to completion. You will play an integral role in ensuring our projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Your clients will be top tier organisations, some of the biggest names in the industry; and this exposure to a wide variety of projects will allow you to further develop your professional and technical skills.
What will you do?
You will undertake a wide range of tasks including:
Cost Planning and Estimation
Prepare initial cost estimates, forecast and budgets for construction projects, BOQs, and tender submissions
Access drawings and calculate estimations for projects taking into account scope of works, product requests and substitutions when necessary
Analyse drawings, specifications, and other documents to determine costs
Assist with managing all aspects of the tender process and quote
Manage accurate quote and job documentation
Liaise with clients regarding alterations or additions to estimations when required
Review of project specifications and preparation of related QA documentation including Inspection Test Plans, Field Inspection Records
Undertake site inspections to ensure compliance to specifications
Develop detailed estimates using estimating software and existing databases
Complete detail take-offs using best practice to accurately determine scope
Review all tender docs with a high level of attention, highlighting all details of significance and prepare / submit Requests for Information (RFI) where required
Ensure project compliance to the contract requirements and project budget
Tendering and Procurement
Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs), tender documentation, and scope of works
Evaluate tender submissions and assist in contractor selection
Advise on procurement strategies and contract types best suited for the project
Cost Control During Construction
Prepare and review construction contracts, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
Track and monitor actual costs versus budgets
Prepare financial reports and cash flow forecasts
Identify and resolve cost discrepancies or potential overruns early
Measure and value work done on-site for interim payments
Assess variations, change orders, and final accounts
Ensure fair and accurate payments between client and contractors
The person we seek
A team player with strong work ethic; a reliable, versatile and organised individual who is detail orientated and process driven.
Minimum 3+ years’ experience in estimating/quantity surveying within construction.
Candidate attributes, skills and experience
Project Estimating/Quantity Surveying experience
Understanding of Planswift software
Strong MS Excel knowledge
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including demonstrated ability to successfully manage Client relationships
Strong understanding of Australian building codes, contracts, and procurement processes
