About the Role
Due to the pending retirement of a senior team member, we need an experienced manufacturing and assembly Fitter and Turner at the Bayswater branch.
The purpose of this role is to contribute to the design, manufacture and repair of products suitable for use in the Heavy Vehicle Power Steering industry. You will utilise a mixture of manual fitting & turning skills as well as the use / program of CNC equipment.
Typical Day
On a daily basis the role could include the following:
Manufacture parts to existing drawings using manual or CNC equipment
Manufacture parts to new drawings or sample parts using manual or CNC equipment
Assembly of manufactured and purchased components
Design, Documentation and manufacture or Jigs and fixtures to improve the manufacture of the parts, with wider engineering team.
Remanufacture or configuration of steering gears, hydraulic steering system pumps.
The Person we seek
We need an enthusiastic and reliable person who takes pride in their work and genuinely cares about delivering a quality outcome.
You will have 5+ years' experience as trade qualified fitter with CNC operations and programming experience.
Required attributes, skills and experience
Advanced Manual fitting skills
Understanding of heavy vehicle power steering systems would be ideal
Attention to detail.
Ability to work autonomously.
Level headed under pressure.
Basic computer skills such as word and internet explorer.
Knowledge and skill in manual manufacturing techniques, including milling, turning and fitting processes.
Knowledge and skill in CNC manufacturing tools and techniques including a proficiency in programming.
Good communication skills.
Ability to follow work instructions.
Ability to contribute to the development of work instructions.
Ability to identify enhancements, and document them for review by management.
Willingness to rapidly move from job to job and skill to skill.
